As soon as you start your own website or blogs, People will start noticing your blogs and if they like your blogs or posts, they will surely comment on that particular post.
I still remember the first time when someone made a comment on my post. I was so happy and at the same time surprised to see that comment.
If any comments on your post, you will see a red highlighted number beside the comment box just like in the image below.
Over here number 4 Indicates the number of unread or new comments
Managing comments is a very crucial task.
This will help you to engage with your audience.
It will also ensure that only valid comment stays there.
There are many people who will just comment below for no reason and add their link just to generate a backlink.
Some of them might even be spammy comments.
So let us start on how to manage your comments in WordPress.
Login to WordPress Admin Panel
To check your Blog Comments, you will firstly need to login to your WordPress to access the Dashboard.
On the left-hand side, you will be able to a Tab which will say everything about the comment.
Usually, when you get a new comment, you will see a red circle with a number of comments recieved just next to the Comment section.
Something like this
This means that I have 4 new or unread comments.
These comments are waiting for approval.
Once approved or actioned they will reflect on your blog or the article.
You need to now click on the comment tab so that you will be able to see the unapproved blogs for your blogs.
Lets us understand the structure or Body of the WordPress comment page.
There are usually 4 things, that will allow you to understand the nature of a particular comment
The body has a default column which has below options:

This will have details of the person who has left the comment on your page.
This comprises information like His Name, Email, and his URL(mostly his website)
This is the main body, where you will be able to see what comment that person has left,
This body will have things like appreciation of Blog, Feedback for you or people will mostly thank you or request for an answer.
In Response to:
For your page, you will have a blog post or articles with regards to your niche.
Hence, this tab will basically tell you that the relevant comment is left on which blog.
This will help you save your time before any investigation
As the name defines, the use.
It will tell you the date and time, on which the comment was left.
As you can see below in the image, the visitor left a comment for this post on 2020/03/27 at 11:09 pm
How to Manage and Comment in WordPress?
Alright, Since we have now understood the default structure of Comments.
Let us first understand, how you can manage a particular comment and what all actions can you take.
3. Quick edit
Let’s understand these 6 actions in precisely
Approve / UnApprove:
Once you have checked the blog comment, you can review it and with a single click, the Blog comment is approved.
You can also later choose to Unapprove the comment.
This is the section that will allow you to reply to that specific user.
For example, if someone is appreciating or thank you you for your Blog,
Hit on that reply option to acknowledge.
Quick Edit and Edit:
This option will allow you to edit the comment of the other user.
Quick edit: will allow you to be on the same page, while you edit the details
Edit: will take you to a new page which will allow you to edit those same details with few more options.
Sometime, you will see irrelevant or spammy comments.
In this case, you can spam those comments and they will stay there.
Comments that you do not need to be placed on your post/Blog can be trashed.
This will not be deleted forever and will stay in your trash box.
What happens to the messages which we marked as Spam or Trashed?
On the top of the screen just below the Comment section, you will see some categories filter, which allows you to segregate or filter these comments more precisely.
This will help you understand your comments more accurately and precisely just like a pie chart.
Over here, you will also be able to see the filter of spam and trash.
If there are any comments that you have market spam or trash.
It will be under this area, and if you delete those comments from here. It will be deleted forever.
